Mirror, Mirror on the Wall – Ladies 5 Are Still the Fairest of Them All!

Once upon a frosty evening, deep in the enchanted forest of Sovicos, the brave Ladies 5 gathered for their latest quest. This band of volleyball heroines faced a challenge that even the fairest of fairy tales would envy. The opponent? Servylo – a team whose peculiar chant of “hop, hop, hop” after every point echoed like a spell, hypnotising the court and testing the patience of our warriors.

But before the whistle blew, dark clouds loomed: a few of our dwarfs – pardon, teammates – had suffered injuries in the days before, leaving the squad less than 100% fit. Yet, like Snow White and her loyal companions, they pressed on with courage and determination.

The first set began like magic. Sandra and Esra, the mighty middle attackers, struck with precision, while Dilara and Merel danced along the wings like graceful forest creatures. Willemijn, the opposite, stood firm as the castle gate, repelling every threat. With such harmony, the first and second sets were claimed with ease, as if written in the stars.

But every fairy tale has its twist. In the third and fourth sets, the energy waned. Perhaps the hypnotic “hop, hop, hop” chant worked its wicked magic, or maybe fatigue crept in like a sly villain. The score grew unnecessarily close, tension thick as the poisoned apple. Coach Floris, ever the fiery huntsman, could not hide his frustration – his voice thundered through the hall like a storm. Meanwhile, trainer Firoz gazed into his mystical glass bowl, knowing every scenario had been rehearsed in training.

Then, in the heat of the fourth set, came the moment that will be sung about in Sovicos halls for years: Caitlin’s setter dump – a move so dazzling it could have awakened Sleeping Beauty herself. It was the perfect antidote to Servylo’s spell, breaking their rhythm and sealing the fate of the match.

Destiny favoured the brave: Ladies 5 triumphed 4–0, restoring peace to the kingdom. With this victory, our heroines remain top of the board, their path to the championship shining brighter than the seven jewels of the dwarfs’ mine. Though bruised and battered, they proved that true strength lies not in perfection, but in unity and heart.

And so, the tale ends – for now. But beware, dear reader: the quest for the crown continues, and Ladies 5 will fight on, fairer and fiercer than ever.
