Did you know that referees often have the best view to observe the game? As a referee, you are not only responsible for enforcing the rules but also for creating a fair and enjoyable playing experience for everyone. At Sovicos, it’s a given that every member is also a referee. This means that each team is responsible for officiating a number of matches. You can only do this after obtaining your game rules certificate from Nevobo, which ensures a better experience for all.
How Does It Work?
To obtain your game rules certificate, visit Volleybalmasterz and log in with your Nevobo account. On the homepage, you’ll find various modules under ‘available courses.’ Click on ‘Volleybalmasterz’ to learn more about the course. The four main tabs are:
- Volleyball Rules at a Glance: Information on each rule.
- 15 Game Situations: Explanations of key game situations and practice tests.
- Information for Clubs: Flyers and presentations.
- Take Your Game Rules Test Here: Complete the test to earn your certificate.
Did you score 16 out of 20 questions correctly? Congratulations, you passed!
V4 Referee Course
All members are encouraged to officiate at least at their own level. This means that if you play in the first or second division, you are required to take a V4 referee course. We will organize this course soon on a Monday evening. You can register in advance via vc@sovicos.nl; we will also invite all members playing in the first and second divisions at a later time.
Second Referee for Heren 1
We also need second referees to officiate Heren 1 matches. As a second referee, you will assist the first referee (who is provided by Nevobo). This offers a chance to expand your knowledge of volleyball rules and make a valuable contribution to the matches and the club.

We understand that some people hesitate to referee, but we want to encourage you that this can be a learning experience. You can always ask for help from one of our Association Experts.
