Safety is always our top priority at Sovicos. To ensure everyone knows what to expect, we follow clear guidelines whenever the Dutch Meteorological Institute (KNMI) issues a weather warning.
As a club, we only follow the official KNMI weather warnings for the South Holland region. We take into account both the warning level and the reason for the warning.
Throughout the year, Sovicos organises both outdoor activities, such as beach volleyball during the summer, and indoor activities, such as volleyball in the sports hall during the winter season. The following guidelines apply.
🟡 Yellow Warning
Heat
Activities may continue. Participants take part at their own risk. Members with heart or respiratory conditions are strongly advised not to participate.
Thunderstorms, strong wind gusts, heavy rain or waterspouts
Outdoor activities are cancelled due to the increased risk of injury. Indoor activities may continue. For league matches, either club or team has the right to cancel the match in accordance with the Dutch Volleyball Association (Nevobo) guidelines.
Slippery conditions (ice or snow)
Outdoor activities are cancelled due to the increased risk of injury. Indoor activities may continue. For league matches, either club or team has the right to cancel the match in accordance with Nevobo guidelines.
Cold weather
Outdoor activities are cancelled due to the increased risk of injury. Indoor activities may continue. For league matches, either club or team has the right to cancel the match in accordance with Nevobo guidelines.
Fog
Outdoor activities are cancelled due to the increased risk of injury. Indoor activities may continue. For league matches, either club or team has the right to cancel the match in accordance with Nevobo guidelines.
🟠 Orange Warning
During an Orange Warning, activities may only take place with the explicit prior approval of the Sovicos Board. Without this approval, the activity will not take place.
🔴 Red Warning
During a Red Warning, all Sovicos activities are cancelled. The safety of our members, volunteers and visitors always comes first.

If you are unsure whether an activity will take place, please check the latest KNMI weather warnings for South Holland and monitor the usual Sovicos communication channels. Any changes will be communicated to members and teams as soon as possible.
