2025 is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to embark on this new adventure with you!
Yesterday, we looked back on the fantastic year that was 2024, celebrating all its highlights: from the championship victory of Dames 4 to the inaugural finale of SoviScore. What a year it was! But now, it’s time to look forward and embrace the future.
The coming year promises even more exciting developments, and we can’t wait to experience them with you. Sovicos will officially turn 75 in 2025! The Jubilee Committee is already hard at work planning a fantastic event to celebrate this milestone. The editorial team is even considering producing a podcast series in honour of the occasion – how amazing is that? This will truly be a moment to remember!
Yesterday, we shared the news of welcoming our new chairman, Ronald, and our new treasurer, Andreea. Unfortunately, we also have to mention that the position of secretary is still vacant. We hope to fill this role in 2025 so that our board can be complete again. Are you interested or know someone who would be the perfect fit? Let us know!
This year, we also aim to finalise our Sovicos 2025+ association policy. The board is working diligently on this, and we look forward to presenting it to you during the General Meeting in September 2025. This policy will form the foundation for Sovicos’ future, and we’re excited to realise it together with you.
But that’s just the beginning! We are committed to training referees for the V4 category (covering matches up to the first division) and even second referees for the promotion division. This ensures that there’s always a well-trained official on the sideline or court.
The Sovicos Schools Tournament is also getting an upgrade in 2025: we’re linking it to the Olympic Moves event. This offers The Hague’s youth not just an exciting challenge but also the chance to shine on a bigger stage! Additionally, we’d like to explore interest in youth beach volleyball and hope to welcome an extra youth Technical Committee member. Who’s up for the task?
In 2025, we’ll also continue our push for digitalisation: less paperwork, more time for the fun stuff! For instance, we plan to launch a digital registration form and enable membership cancellations through the website. This will eliminate unnecessary emails and make the process easier for everyone.
We also strive to foster even stronger connections among our members. We want to organise fun activities that go beyond training and matches. Think of social gatherings, tournaments, and other events that bring everyone together. Because Sovicos isn’t just a volleyball club – it’s a SoviCommunity.
Since we know our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, we want to show even more appreciation for them in 2025. We’ll kick off the year with a volunteers’ social in February and organise a volunteer day in the summer. This year, we want our volunteers to truly feel how much they mean to Sovicos!
Of course, Sovicos will always remain, first and foremost, a volleyball club, so we also have sporting goals for 2025. We want to grow not just in performance but also in engagement and participation. From young to old: join the training sessions, play in the matches, and let’s make it an incredible year together! And naturally, we hope all teams retain their positions or even become champions.
