Food Bank Initiative to support our community

Soon, in collaboration with NOC*NSF and the NeVoBo, we will launch a food bank initiative to support our community. This initiative, scheduled for March/April, will provide us with the opportunity to collectively make a positive impact on the lives of others in our neighborhood.

What is a Food Bank?

A food bank serves as a vital pillar of support for communities worldwide. It is a non-profit organization that collects surplus food and redistributes it to those in need. In the Netherlands alone, there are over 170 active food banks, collectively distributing millions of kilograms of food annually to those who require it most.

Why is the Food Bank Important for the Neighborhoods?

The presence of a food bank in the Moerwijk and Morgenstond neighborhoods in The Hague is of invaluable significance. These neighborhoods face challenges related to poverty and social inequality. According to recent statistics from the municipality of The Hague, nearly a quarter of households in these areas live below the poverty line. The food bank provides essential support to families struggling to put enough food on the table, helping to alleviate the burden of food insecurity.

How Can We Help?

As a volleyball club, we are committed to contributing to the well-being of our community. Therefore, we will soon launch a food bank initiative in collaboration with NOC*NSF, inviting our members to donate non-perishable food items. By working together towards this noble cause, we can make a difference in the lives of others, demonstrating that solidarity and community spirit are paramount at Sovicos.
