The days are getting shorter, flip-flops are back in the cupboard… but that doesn’t mean we’re stopping beach volleyball! You can still play beach indoors at Sovicos! Here are some tips for indoor beach volleyball:
1. Work on the basics
If you’re new to beach volleyball, the foundation is key! Practise your passing and setting calmly in the hall. The pace indoors is a bit faster, but the control you build will transfer effortlessly to the sand. Running drills are also useful — sprinting a few times helps simulate beach conditions.
2. Train your core and balance
In the sand, stability is everything. Core exercises like planks, squats, and side lunges will help you stand stronger — literally! The better your balance, the easier it will be to jump, dive, and land on the sand later.
3. Learn to communicate
On the beach, you play in pairs, so communication is crucial. Use indoor training to practise talking on the court: call out when you’re going for the ball! It makes a world of difference.
4. Keep it fun!
Training indoors doesn’t have to be all work. Keep it social, mix up the exercises, and most importantly, enjoy the game. Fun = progress.
