Exploring Sovicos Volleyball Club

Sovicos is a vibrant volleyball club located in The Hague, Netherlands. With over 75 years of history, Sovicos offers a welcoming environment for players of all ages and skill levels. The post delves into the club’s organisation, team structure, volunteer roles, and how to join.

Organizational Structure

The club is managed by a board consisting of six positions: Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Technical Affairs, Youth Affairs, and Club Affairs. Supporting staff includes committees for activities, beach volleyball, youth training, membership, editorial, and more. If you want to join the team all you need is willingness and perhaps sometimes a vacancy.

Teams and Levels

If you want to join one of the teams, there are plenty of options that depend both on your age and level. Are you under 18? Join one of our youth teams! Otherwise, you will be redirected to an adult team. Please keep reading to find out how to join the association! 

Youth Teams:

– CMV Levels 1–6: For ages 6–12, focusing on skill development through Cool Moves Volley.

– C-Youth (12–14 years), B-Youth (14–16 years), A-Youth (16–18 years): Standard volleyball format with weekly competitions.

Adult Teams:

– Open to players aged 18 and above.

– Teams range from 4th Class to 1st Class.

– Training sessions are held on Monday (in sportcampus Zuiderpark) and Wednesday (at Sportsvenue Steenwijklaan) nights.

Volunteer Responsibilities

Volunteers are the backbone of Sovicos. Roles include trainers, coaches, referees, bar service coordinators, and event organizers. The club values every volunteer and encourages participation in various capacities.

How to Join Sovicos

Interested individuals can sign up for two free trial training sessions. For youth, contact jeugdtc@sovicos.nl with the child’s name, date of birth, and phone number. Adults can email tc@sovicos.nl with their details. The Technical Committee will help place new members in suitable teams. After your tryouts, sign a form and enjoy the game!
