Dear Sovicos Members,
The new season has begun, and we are thrilled with the enthusiastic start we’ve had! Last week, we kicked off with the first regular training sessions of the 2023/2024 season. Despite the holiday period, many of you were back on the court with freshly polished shoes and new knee pads, brimming with energy. There was plenty of sweating, laughter, and we’ve already witnessed many fantastic plays.
Those fantastic plays were repeated last Saturday during our very first SovIntro Tournament. Different mixed teams played exciting matches, and we cheered on Men’s 1 during their tri-match. It was a delightful day where we got to know each other a bit better.
As the board, we are delighted to see such a festive atmosphere at the beginning of the season, and we aim to maintain this enthusiasm throughout the season.
Although we’ve had a fantastic start, our board is not yet complete. We are still in search of a new chairman, and Mark will step down as treasurer. So, if you’re interested in becoming a board member to help shape Sovicos’ future, please send an email to bestuur@sovicos.nl. The board is a friendly group of people dedicated to Sovicos’ present and future. We meet every six weeks and, of course, frequently see each other in the hall. If you have questions for the board, don’t hesitate to send us an email or a message. And, of course, we’re more than happy to answer all your questions while enjoying a beer at Steenwijklaan.
We look forward to a season filled with sportsmanship, camaraderie, and a packed audience and canteen. Come fill the hall with cheers and laughter when other teams play, attend the exciting activities planned, and ensure that everyone on your team feels welcome. We are a club for everyone, and we expect everyone to treat each other with respect. If there is ever anything considered undesirable, our trusty confidants Brenda & Vincent S. are ready to assist. Take a moment to read our code of conduct, and let’s make this season a great one together.
We are also extremely grateful to everyone who has volunteered. Together, we’ll make this season a success, and with more volunteers, we can share the load. We’re also proud to introduce SoviScore this year. It’s an engaging system where teams can win fantastic prizes. You earn points by taking on regular and occasional tasks, such as coaching a team, writing match reports, or serving behind the bar during an event. It couldn’t be simpler.
This year, we also hope to bring sponsors on board. If you’re interested in helping with this, please contact Matthijs.
Last but not least, we are already busy preparing for the General Members Meeting on September 28th. We would be delighted to have you attend the ALV in the small canteen. Let’s fill the canteen, because the more members, the better. While enjoying snacks and drinks, we’ll discuss the past season, Sovicos’ future, and changes in the volleyball game from Nevobo / NOC*NSF. The committees will be present to answer your questions, and we’ll raise our glasses to a new season full of sportsmanship and camaraderie. We hope to see you all on Thursday, September 28th, at 7:30 PM in the Steenwijklaan Sports Hall.
